Just go play Subnautica or No Man Sky or other similar, better games. I bought it because I got it for like $5, but even then I would not recommend supporting the game. The Devs in this game do not care or listen to feedback - and almost all recent updates are all MICROTRANSACTION related and no improvement to the game or gameplay. You CAN'T turn it off despite it being a common request since the game's early days. You WILL click the ground all the time on accident because of hitboxes on items and you will get annoyed by this animation and sound.

This is a co-op feature (not a very good one either) but yet it persists in Single Player. One example is that if you mouse click on the ground in a radius near you, your character does a pointing animation and a noise prompt plays. The most jarring this for me were features that the developers put in but no one wants and they ignore pleas to remove it. Controls can be very clunky due to the no UI interface they have set in place. The gameplay loop is fun for a bit and the graphics are charming, but the no UI interface is very clunky, the research menu in particular is a huge mess (it's better once you understand it, but the game never explains it). Think of it as a game very similar to No Man Sky - but much simpler in many respects. The game itself is your typical survival type game, much like all the other ones you've played before. It was once a better game from what I hear but coming in as a new player at the end of 2021 it has many flaws. I wanted to recommend this game - but cannot. Everything is just within your reach if your ambitious, but far enough away for you to be challenged. But you don't have to get bogged down in details - I once built a road network around an entire planet, and it made me appreciate the scale of this game. There are limits to how creative you can get, however, and perfectionists may find themselves relentlessly trolled by minor imperfections you can never quite get rid of. While its voxel-based terrain has a simplistic optic, I find it regularly offers inspiring vistas and immersive environments. Being able to leave a persistent impact on a system-wide scale is an empowering experience. Still, it offers surprising replay value and caters to both casual and more "exploitative" gameplay styles. I've played "survival crafting" before, but that is somehow a too narrow label for this game, even though it is entirely accurate.Īstroneer is an open world survival game set in a predefined solar system with procedurally-generated planets and a fixed story line. It's a game that I would have never thought of buying because I didn't even know I wanted what it had to offer. This game is exceptionally great at being itself, which may be a weird way to put it, but it I find it hard to compare it to something because it is so unique.
